Then I and my husband arrived home from a 2 week holiday in Thailand. We have been to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Bangkok. Best food we have eaten at Koh Phangan. We have tried to stick to Thai food and I think that has really been a smart move by us. Partly because it is the cheapest food but also because they are very good at cooking . My favorite has this weeks been fried rice with chicken . Thought I'd try making it at home. Jon has eaten pad thai at several restaurants to see the difference . I was not so keen on it .
The most outlandish we had in Koh Samui was when my husband and I walked from our hotel to the main street with all the shops and pubs, we found a resaturant who had al you can eat buffet for 149 baht (about 30kr ) . We thought that sounded really good so we decided to try it with a friend who also was down to Samui. When we stepped into the restaurant (or it was more like a large patio ) , we realize that it was not the kind of buffet that we had imagined, it was a buffet of raw food that you had to cook for yourself at your table. So we looked at how local people cooked their food and tried as best we could. It was different but good, we might not have been on top of everything we ate but most of it was good .
We have mostly been on the beach or by the pool and enjoying not having any deadlines to meet , it's been really nice . In Bangkok , we avoided the 35 C heat inside the department store MBK . Our second night in Bangkok we tried to go to the cinema in the mall. The movie began 10 minutes before the center closed so when the movie was over at 1:10 , it was blackened and closed. We latched onto some of the other people and had to go out through the loading bay at the rear of the house. Because of the Thai protesters , we had a bit tricky to get us out of the area , but we eventually managed to find a taxi that took us back to the hotel.
It's been wonderful weeks but now I look forward to the spring home in Sweden.
